Do not confuse the LOMO TMH4-BF microscope with the cheaply made, low cost optics so frequently seen in advertisements and retail stores. This is aruggedly made microscope with serious imaging capabilities! Utilizing aprecision mechanical stage, and a high resolution optical system consisting of4x and 10x plan achromats, 40x and 100x flat field achromats and a focusable1.25 N.A. abbe condenser, the TMH4-BF will astonish you with its imagequality and ease of use. Ready to use "out-of-the box", the TMH4-BFis capable of performing urinalysis tests, protozoan hunts, mycological sporeanalysis, blood counts, clinical samples and more!  

Magnification Changer – All trinocular Multiscopes™come with LOMO’s HT-30 trinocular head. The LOMO HT-30 microscope head includes aunique and versatile dial-in, field-flattening, magnification-changer capable ofboosting magnifications by up to 250%! The rotating magnification changer has 4positions. The first three positions have magnification values of 1.1x, 1.6x and2.5x, respectively. Therefore, with the standard 10x widefield eyepieces and the4x objective, the microscope can yield images with magnifications of 44x, 64x or100x. Using the 10x objective with the 10x eyepieces, the microscopes can yield image magnifications of 110x, 160x or 250x. Using the 40x objective produces440x, 640x or 1000x, and so on to the 100x oil immersion objective, which canproduce magnifications of 1,100x, 1,600x or 2,500x. The fourth position of the magnification changer contains a Bertrand Lens. This useful device looks into the objective back focal plane, which is beneficial for aligning the bulb in theoptical system, aligning phase rings for phase contrast, and looking at interference figures using polarized light.

All of this added magnification from the HT-30 requires an ultra-precisefocusing system. The "FineWheel™" fine focus control isergonomically placed in the base of the microscope to limit unnecessary handmovement, and is coupled to one of the smoothest, most precise focusing systemsin the microscope industry.

The TMH4-BF microscope also includes a brilliant 12V/20W variable intensity illuminator with acenterable bulb, and a precision 12-leaf aperture iris diaphragm in thesub-stage condenser. A swing-out reduction lens on the condenser allows thecorrect illumination of the full field of view with all objectives ranging from4x to 100x. The built-in lamp housing sharply and evenly illuminates thespecimen, while the external, variable intensity power supply keeps anytransformer heat away from the microscope. 

Should you wish to "turbo-charge" your illumination to aid inhigh-magnification, phase contrast and/or darkfield  observations, a modestly priced 6V/15W halogen Koehlerilluminator may be purchased as an optional accessory.

TMH4-BF-V:this configuration includes a 1x C-mount adapter (#VA-VAV2) most commonly usedfor attaching 1/3” and ½” C-mount video and digital CCD cameras. Need aC-mount with less magnification than 1x? Then we would recommend the TMH4-BF-Eand one of LOMO’s 0.3x or 0.5x C-mount adapters. See below.

TMH4-BF-F:this configuration includes a 2.4x T-mount adapter (#VA-VAF2) for 35mm photomicrography. If you do not have a camera that accepts T-mount lenses, thenyou will need to purchase a simple thread adapter. They are readily available from photo shops such as Wolf, or Ritz, etc. and are usually around $10-$15. Forexample, you would like to place your Canon 35mm camera on the TMH4-BF-F.You would need to purchase a “Canon to T-mount” adapter, and then you can thread your camera directly onto the phototube of the microscope.

TMH4-BF-E:this configuration includes a telescoping (from 140mm to 200mm) DIN standard(23.3mm) eyepiece tube adapter (#VA-VAE2). This is useful for attaching aconsumer/professional digital cameras via one of our Digital Camera Adapters,or for attaching C-mount video and digital CCD cameras via our 0.3x or 0.5xC-mount adapters. This configuration is also useful if you already have a 3^rdparty camera and coupler system that fits DIN standard tubes.
